The Blog World

Any of you out there have a husband, boyfriend, spouse who doesn't quite get blogging?

I've been blogging for a couple years but just this last year have gotten more serious about it. I want to document it all, I would love to someday show my kiddos all that Matt and I did before they came along. I want to be able to look back on a year of our life and see all the adventures that make us who we are. I simply don't want to forget anything. (And making friends along the way doesn't hurt either...)

But I'm not sure Matt (hubby) is as fond of my blogging hobby as I am. It take times, it gets a decent amount of my attention and I obviously enjoy talking about it. I suppose it's also my love of reading others' blogs that drives him the craziest... "Is our life so boring that you have to read about others?" He actually says the same thing about some of the reality TV shows I watch... :)

I just don't think he gets it. Blogging has become special to me. An outlet. A place to literally 'spit it all out'... and often times receives support from readers and blogger friends. It's a community and I'm thankful to be a part of it.

I do however recognize the need for balance--closing the laptop and cuddling up to my husband should happen more. I need to be aware. It's just so easy to read through blogs when TV sucks and I'm in between books.

I don't want this to make Matt sound bad and un-supportive, he is supportive, in his own ways. I think he just questions my blogging world, since he is not directly a part of it. And yet he reminds me to bring my camera along to take pictures, and he often suggests blog ideas--so I know he cares about the hobby that makes me happy...

Though I know he only occasionally reads what I write on this blog, every now and then he peeks in and compliments what I've said. It makes my day.

So I'm interested, what are your husbands or boyfriends role in your blog? Do they read it? Support it? Get excited about new blog friends for you? :) Does he ever feel like you spend too much time on the ol'blog? Or slighted by the attention given to something he is not directly a part of?

Just interested to know... :)

I am linking up with Whispering Sweet Nothings today to do a fun blog hop. If you have stopped in, please leave a comment, this way I can hop on over to your space and get to know you! It's what makes blogging so much fun after all!

  3. I'm totally a newbie to blogging, and Cody totally supported the idea...but has very quickly realized how sucked in I can get. So I've definitely had to make a conscious effort to do the same and close the laptop or put down the phone.
