We Didn't Kiss

Matt and I are still in Pittsburgh enjoying our break from school. As we were driving around today we started talking about our first date. It took place in Pittsburgh at a place called Tessaro's, an old time family run restaurant located in Bloomfield. I believe it was a Saturday night, sometime in the fall, November maybe? The place was busy and we had to wait a while for a seat. We decided to sit outside in the front of the restaurant. There were three concrete steps located next to the front entrance (I don't remember the stairs actually leading to anything). We sat there, me nervous, and I suppose him too. I shook from not only the cold, but because here I was on a date with my best guy friend. The guy I swore I would never date at the risk of loosing my best friend.

The food was delicious.
We interacted like we'd always had (the best friends that we were).
Things were good.
He took me back to the place I was living at the time for school and we watched In the Land of Women.

We didn't kiss.

That night was a turning point.  A chance to see Matt as something so much more than just a best friend--yet at the same time realizing that maybe it is the best friend you want to be with after all.

Matt went home;
And then to the doctors the following day where he was given an antibiotic for a sinus infection.

I like to think he cared enough about that first date that he never once made mention of how sick he was feeling. He fully intended on stealing my heart that night.

It was not fully stolen until February... but I'll never forget that first date.

 (I actually don't have pictures from our first date. Boo.)
